  • An excel database containing PVC ID card information must be created. If you have already not created a database, first create an excel database.

An Excel database is a table containing the card information which has to be printed on cards. These databases contain a name, father’s name, cell number, etc. if you are a student. So, let’s make a database of nursing students and then attach a database with CorelDraw X7.

  • Start Microsoft Excel to attach a database with CorelDraw X7.
  • Type the name, father name, session, date of admission, school ID, blood group, date of birth, date of issue, CNIC, address, cell numberand at the last which is the most important picture’s address.
  • Name the last column name as a photo and paste the photo URL on it.

  • Now, click on save as and choose CSV comma eliminated value file format.

We will insert 100 students’ data in this tutorial using it. But remember that this command only fetches text not graphics like images. If this command only text fetcher, then how pictures will insert automatically? For this purpose, will use a macro that is coding in VBA code.

How pictures will be inserted automatically in CorelDraw X7?

There are no commands in CorelDraw to insert graphics automatically like the print merge command. We have made a macro with VBA code that works well for these purposes to attach a database with CorelDraw X7. In this macro, we have attached the print merge command also. This macro will perform the following jobs or actions on your CorelDraw X7 to attach a database with CorelDraw X7.

How to make cards using CorelDraw macro?

  • First of all, you have to install CorelDraw X7 in your system. If don’t already, then click here to install CorelDraw X7 in your computer’s full version with the key.
  • Download and install the macro-VBA code in your CorelDraw X7.
  • Extract the macro and copy it and paste it into program files, Corel, CorelDraw graphic suite x7, drawand finally GMS folder.

  • Load macro by clicking on tools and then macro, click on the macro manager.
  • Macro will be loaded on the right side of the application.
  • Now, click on the ID Card macro and run it.
  • Click on the browse button to load the excel database.
  • All excel databases with credentials of cards will be loaded on the macro screen.
  • Select an image from the database and insert it into the image section.
  • Select the barcode and insert it into the barcode section.
  • Now, click on generate macroand all credentials will be created and inserted into the page.
  • Now, select every row and set it against values where you want to show them.
  • Set their font style and size at once.
  • Same way, insert the picture in the picture place.
  • Now, after doing all settings click generate cards.
  • All 100 cards will be made after 5 minutes.
  • It will create 100 pages in CorelDraw.
  • Now, you have to print them. Click on the file menu and click the print preview command.
  • Set the page as A4. These settings are different in different printers but the purpose is to select A4 paper for printing.
  • Click on the imposition layout tool 2nd in number on the left side and settings of the page like quantity, cutter on both sides, etc.
  • Click on the mark placement tool which is 3rd in number and click mark. It will mark the cutting area which will help after printing to cut easily.
  • Now, click on print. You have done and attach a database with CorelDraw X7.
