How to remove duplicate records in excel from one excel sheet using kutool for excel software?

As I already said that it works with just one click. There, you have one file sheet that have mixed data with duplicate entries also. Now, you want to remove duplicate entries from the sheet. Kindly follow the below step to remove duplicate entries or remove duplicate records in excel.

  • Kutool for Excel must be installed in your system. If you already do not have one, click here to get into your PC.
  • Open your excel datasheet which you want to simplify by removing duplicate entries.
  • Now, you will select the column or row in which you have duplicate records. There will be numeric, alpha and alphanumeric records. Always choose the same type of data. In my case, I have the unique data I’d of CNIC which I want to remove duplicate records of CNIC.
  • When you select the column containing unique values, click on kutool tab.
  • Now, select the drop-down button “Delete” and choose “Delete Duplicate or Unique Value”.
  • Below it, choose the colour to easily identify the searched duplicate records. Select any colour of your own choice. It is the two colours; one will change the text colour of duplicated values and see one will fill the cell background colour. Select the background colour and tick on it to remove duplicate records in excel.
  • A dialogue box will be shown to you containing the different scenarios and checkmarks. Choose a checkmark on “Duplicate including the First row”. And click the ok button.
  • It will scan all the columns and finally show you the total duplicate found records. Click OK to delete.
  • Congratulations you have successfully deleted duplicate values.
  • This option is not available in the below 24 versions of kutool. So, Download the above version if you utilized this function.

How to remove duplicate records in excel sheet using the excel built-in function power query?

  • Open your excel sheet that you want to remove duplicate records in excel.
  • Click the cursor on any cell and press CTR+T from the keyboard.
  • Create table box will be appeared and click on the ok button. It will create your data in the table.
  • Then, it will auto take to you into the design tab and select the table style from the left side of the top.
  • Now, click on the Data tab and select the “From Table” option from the get and transform tab.
  • It will open the power query page where you easily remove duplicate entries.
  • Now, you will see a table sign from the first column above the numbering. Click on it and select “Remove Duplicate”. It is better to select your column or may not need to select it.
  • You have deleted duplicate values.
  • Now, click on the “close and load” button and choose the “close and load to” option.
  • It will open a pop-up page; these are the settings where you want to place the new unique data. Select the table if you want to insert unique new data into a new table and sheet otherwise select the second option. Select as you want.
  • After deleting the duplicate, you may select all and copy the entire date and may paste it into a new sheet manually.
