Imported Mobile Phones Work For 120 Days by doing PTA Temporary Registration
A new temporary registration mechanism for imported mobile phones has been introduced by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), allowing them to operate for 120 days without incurring any fees. This change intends to allay the worries of foreigners and Pakistanis living abroad who make brief trips to the nation.
To assure the system’s reliability and technical performance, the PTA is now testing and finalising it. The PTA website will provide information about the new service once it is available.
Imported Mobile Phones Work For 120 Days

The temporary registration feature will enable users to register their imported mobile phones with the PTA without paying fees and duties, granting them a 120-day period of usage. This initiative is particularly beneficial for overseas Pakistanis and foreign visitors who stay in the country temporarily.
PTA Temporary Registration
To avail of the temporary registration, applicants will be required to submit their credentials and the device’s International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) through the PTA’s Device Identification Registration and Blocking System (DIRBS). The DIRBS system will be linked with the Integrated Border Management System (IBMS) of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) for verification of the passport number. Additionally, mobile operators will validate the mobile number’s SIM ownership belonging to the applicant of the imported mobile phone.

The introduction of temporary registration for imported mobile phones streamlines the process for users, eliminating the need for immediate payment of fees and duties. It offers a more convenient solution, especially for those who visit Pakistan for a short duration. By allowing a 120-day grace period, the PTA acknowledges the temporary nature of the visit while ensuring hassle-free mobile phone usage.
This initiative demonstrates the government’s commitment to facilitating overseas Pakistanis, making their visits to the homeland more convenient. It recognizes the importance of their connectivity and communication needs during their stay in Pakistan. The temporary registration system eases the burden of registration procedures, enabling a smoother experience for both individuals and the authorities involved.
Conclusions:
The PTA’s introduction of temporary registration for imported mobile phones in Pakistan is a significant step toward enhancing the ease of use and convenience for overseas Pakistanis and foreign visitors. This initiative reflects the government’s commitment to modernize processes, reduce bureaucratic hurdlesand promote a welcoming environment for all.
By allowing a 120-day grace period, individuals can utilize their imported mobile phones hassle-free during their stay in Pakistan. This move sets a positive precedent for efficient and user-friendly regulations, contributing to an enhanced experience for all stakeholders involved.
